NILES - David M. Embert, 84, passed away peacefully at 2:19 p.m., Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Hospice House. He was born in Niles, Ohio on February 10, 1930 the son of Martin and Lempi Marie (Schyll) Embert and lived here all his life.
David was a 1949 graduate of Niles McKinley High School, a member of the NIles Trinity Lutheran Church, U. S. Army veteran serving from 1951 to 1953 and previously was in the Navy reserves. He was employed by Wade Construction building new homes in the Idora Park area of Youngstown and a welder for Heltzel Iron & Steel for 17 years. He retired in 1989 from the Stambaugh Thompson Company and did some kitchen and bath home remodeling.
David enjoyed woodworking and making crafts, coaching baseball, yardwork, golfing and bowling. He and his wife spent some 40 years at Jeffco Lake Campgrounds during the summer months and traveled to Niagara Falls on many vacations. He attended and enjoyed all sporting and soccer events that his grandchildren participated in.
David is survived by his wife Dorothy M. (Bako) Embert whom he married June 5, 1951; daughter Susan (Dominic) Messuri of Canfield; son Rick Embert of Austintown; three grandchildren Kim (Danny) Greene of Highland Heights, Michael and Marie Messuri both of Canfield; a great-granddaughter, Raegan Mae Greene.
At David's request there are no calling hours or services. Entombment will be in Niles City Cemetery.
