Elizabeth Siska Obituary
COLUMBUS - Elizabeth Suzanne "Sue" Siska, 66, died at 2:41 p.m. on Monday January 2, 2017 at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
She was born in Warren, Ohio on December 30, 1950 the only child of Julius N. and Esther O. (Teglas) Siska.
Sue was a graduate of Niles McKinley High School and the Trumbull Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. For many years, she was a nurse at the OSU Medical Center, Grant Hospital and retired from Marion General Health Center. She worked in a variety of hospital settings from orthopedics to psychiatric. For most of her career, she was a nursing supervisor and then became a pre-admission testing nurse before retirement. She was a member of the Southside United Presbyterian Church, Niles.
She loved family vacations in Virginia Beach and watching the airplanes land at Pungo AFB. As she got older, she enjoyed taking cruises with her friends and traveling to the casinos in southern Indiana, Missouri and Las Vegas. She was a life long Chicago Cubs fan and was able to witness them win the World Series. Sue loved cats and is leaving her beloved Sammy to the good care of her friend Jackie.
Sue is survived by two uncles, John Teglas of Girard, Pete Teglas of California and several cousins on both sides of the Siska and Teglas families.
The funeral will be Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home where family and friends may call one hour prior to the service. Rev. Curtis Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mid-Ohio Food Bank or the Cat Welfare Association of Columbus, Ohio.
The family would like to extend their thanks to her wonderful and devoted friends who were a constant source of support: Gina and Rob Blevins, Jackie and Mike Cox (sons Finn and Dawson), George and Doris Goodwin, James Stacy and Naydene. We would also like to thank Riverside Methodist Hospital and their Palliative Care Team for the excellent care.
