CORTLAND - Gisela Gehringer, 92, passed away peacefully on Friday morning April 8, 2016 at her residence at the Lake Vista Assisted Living in Cortland.
She was born in Berlin, Germany on August 25, 1923 the daughter of Paul and Augusde (Rockstroh) Schuster and moved to the Howland community in 1947. While in Berlin, she attended art school specializing in photography.
Gisela was of the Lutheran faith, a "Pink Lady" Red Cross Volunteer Driver and a charter member of the Yankee Run Golf Friday Night Couples League. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Warren Chapter. She enjoyed golfing, bike riding, ice skating, tending to her flower gardens, knitting, crocheting and traveling especially on cruises.
Gisela is survived by he husband, Carl F. Gehringer Sr. whom she married on December 14, 1945; a daughter, Vivian (Terry) McDowell of Howland; a grandson, Charles (Jennifer) Dann of Howland and a great grandson, Jaxson.
She was preceded in death by her son, Carl F. Gehringer Jr. who died on November 14, 2012; a sister, Charlottea Prinzler and a brother, Franz Ludwig Schuster.
The Funeral will be Monday April 11, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Holeton - Yuhasz Funeral Home, Niles where family and friends may call one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Howland Township Cemetery.
