James Pantalone Obituary

NILES - James Thomas "Jim" Pantalone Sr., 80, passed away peacefully at 9:04 p.m., Friday, June 15, 2018 at the Shepherd of the Valley Nursing Home. Jim was born in Youngstown, Ohio on April 10, 1938 the son of Thomas and Mary (Stigliano) Pantalone and lived in this area all his life. Jim was a well respected business entrepreneur. He was the founder and owner of Pantalone Service Station on Robbins Avenue, Niles for over 40 years, established the Niles Cab Company and Pantalone Auto Sales and Service. For approximately 10 years he owned Pantalone Towing Services on Langley Street, Niles
Jim was a member of the Austintown Highway Tabernacle Church. He honorably served in the United States Army and was a 30 year member of several Army and Navy Garrisons in Niles. In 1976 he was appointed the national commander for the Army and Navy, served as the National Judge Advocate and a member of the National Advisory Board. In 1999 was inducted into the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame that gave honor to him for his many years of volunteer service to the Army and Navy organizations. In his earlier years he was a volunteer for the Austintown Fire Department and was a dirt track racing enthusiast.
Jim is survived by his wife, Miriam (Paolicelli) Pantalone whom he married October 19, 1963; daughter, Debra Sue (Robert) Haseley of Canfield; son, James T. (Marsha) Pantalone II of Howland; three grandchildren, Jason Robert (Taylor) Haseley of Poland, Sara Elizabeth (Daniel) Beilstein of Poland, Mia James Pantalone of Howland; great-granddaughter, Sophia Jade Beilstein; two sisters, Evelyn (William) Davis of Lakeland, Florida, Leah (Donald) Johnson of New Market, Maryland; two sisters-in-law, Jean Pantalone of North Ridgeville, Ohio, Fran Pantalone of Niles and many nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, John and wife, Angie Pantalone, Benjamin Pantalone, Phillip Pantalone and sister Ruth and husband, Frank DelTino.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, June 19, 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m. and Wednesday June 20, 2018 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. The Funeral will be Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Duane Bull officiating. Burial will follow at the Niles City Cemetery with military honors provided by the American Legion Honor Guard. The family extend a special thank you to every staff member at the Shepherd of the Valley Nursing Home, Niles, for the excellent care provided to Mr. Pantalone over the past several years.
