POLAND - John Victor Boron, 90, formerly of Niles, passed away at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday September 3, 2015 at the Sunrise Assisted Living of Poland.
He was born in Youngstown on November 16, 1924 the son of Andy and Regina (Hunja) Boron.
A United States Army Veteran of World War II, he retired in 1984 after working for 38 years in many departments at ITT Grinnell. His final assignment was testing nuclear shocks. After his retirement, he serviced the Warren Tribune Cronicle Newspaper boxes. For over 25 years he was an umpire with the Trumbull County Umpire Association. John was once a member of St. Joseph Church, its Holy Names Society and volunteered for many of the church functions. He was also a member of St. Stephen Church. Growing up on a farm he enjoyed his vegetable garden. He loved Polka music and going dancing with his wife on Saturday nights. John was always willing to help anyone with any type of project, either large or small.
John is survived by five children, Carol (David) Carlin of Las Vegas, Nevada, Gloria Boron of Charlotte, North Carolina, Michael (Laura) Boron of Chesapeake, Virginia, Donna (Richard) Curl of Newton Falls, Teresa (Charles) Reilly of Poland; son in law, Mick Pugh of Albion, Nebraska; ten grandchildren; three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn B. (Mikula) Boron whom he married on April 21, 1951 and who died on July 20, 2012; daughter, Frances Pugh; three sisters, Wanda Kakalak, Vida Mathe, Jane Lenio; two brothers, Frank and Joseph Boron.
Calling Hours will be Tuesday, September 8, 2015 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stephen Church. Rev. James Korda will be the celebrant. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery.
