Lillian V. (Hughes) Dinger, 96 passed away peacefully at 1:40pm, Sunday, August 14, 2016 at her residence at Shepherd of the Valley Assisted Living. Lillian was born in Niles,Ohio on October 25, 1919 the daughter of Samuel J. and Caroline (Raub) Hughes. She lived in Niles and Howland Township all her life. Lillian and her late husband wintered for many years in Florida. She moved to Shepherd of the Valley four years ago.
Lillian was a 1937 graduate of Niles McKinley High School, a member of Saint Stephen Church, Niles and previously attended Blessed Sacrament Church and Saint James Church in Warren. She was an active swimmer at the former Eastwood branch of the YWCA, enjoyed bowling for several church bowling leagues and playing cards.
Lillian was employed as a bookkeeper for over 40 years at the Trumbull Lamp Plant of General Electric Company, Warren where she retired February 1, 1980.
She is survived by two nephews, James (Patricia) Yuhasz of Niles, Timothy (Susan) Hughes of Dallas, Tx., six nieces, Mary Jane (Vincent) Marilla of Howland, Holly Hughes of Howland, Heidi Hughes of Columbus, Carol (Michael) Miller of Cocoa Beach, Florida, Pamela Kalish of Phoenix, Az., Joan (Michael) Dvorak of Cocoa Beach, Florida, three great nephews, five great nieces, one great-great nephew and six great-great nieces.
Lilian was preceded in death by her husband Paul W. Dinger whom she married July 16, 1968 and he died December 16, 2015. A sister, Martha O. Yuhasz died January 19, 1996, two brothers, Samuel R. Hughes died September 21, 1996 and Earl Hughes died January 19, 2014.
Friends may call at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home Wednesday, August 17, 2016 from 9:45 am to 10:45 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be in Saint Stephen Church at 11:00 am, Wednesday, August 17, 2016 with the Rev. Richard Murphy officiating. Burial will be in Kerr Cemetery.
