WARREN - Loren "Chuck" Wingard, 81, passed away at 12:10 a.m. on Sunday May 15, 2016 at the Cortland Healthcare Center following a long illness.
He was born in Ravenna, Ohio on January 22, 1935 the son of James and Florence (Funk) Wingard. He was a graduate of Ravenna High School and honorably served in the United States Army Reserves. He retired in 2002 after working 30 years as a machinist at the General Motors Fabrication Plant in Lordstown.
Chuck was an avid Cleveland Browns fan and enjoyed football, casinos, flea markets, family cookouts and his dogs, Gus, Zoey and Bear. Most of all he cherished the time spent with his pride and joy granddaughter, Kaylie.
Chuck is survived by a son, James (DonnaMarie) Wingard of Elyria; daughter, Lori (Tim) Foy of Niles; granddaughter, Kaylie Wingard and a brother, Dale Wingard of Essexville, Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary M. (Titus) Wingard whom he married on October 22, 1962 and who passed away on August 20, 1996; two brothers, William Wingard, Thomas Wingard and a sister, Shirley Beranek.
The Funeral will be Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home in Niles where family and friends may call one hour prior to the service. Pastor Woody Cavender will officiate. Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
The family encourages everyone to wear Cleveland Browns attire for the service.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice.
