NILES - Maxine Caroline Carr, 77, passed away on Tuesday February 17, 2015 at 5:50 p.m. at the Select Specialty Hospital, Warren following a short illness.
She was born in Irona, West Virginia on April 14, 1937 the daughter of Whorley F. and Essie Pearl (Hartley) Miller Sr.
She enjoyed singing country and gospel music and in her younger days, playing the guitar, gardening, embroidering and crocheting. She cherished going to lunch and spending time with her family and friends.
Maxine is survived by two daughters, Kathy (Louis) Scenna of Niles, LeeAnn (Steve) Lender of Niles; son, Raymond (Melissa) Carr of Niles; special nephew, Roger (Rose) Sigley of McDonald; six grandchildren, Caroline Lucariello, Gary Green Jr., Steve Carr, Lukus Carr, Caiden Carr, Tyler Carr; four great grandchildren, Nicholas Lucariello, Gianna Lucariello, Ethan Hughes, Gage Carr; four brothers, John (Edith) Spiker of Tunnelton, West Virginia, Russell (Patricia) Miller of Girard, Junior Miller of McDonald, Whorley (Tammy) Miller Jr. of Kingwood, West Virginia; five sisters, Geraldine LaRue of Gladesville, West Virginia, Freda (Joseph) Santangelo of Youngstown, Sandy (Gary) Fazenbaker of Morgantown, West Virginia, Connie DeWitt of Albright, West Virginia, Debbie Miller of Kingwood, West Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Carr whom she married on September 13, 1956 and who died on August 9, 1988; step mother, Violet Spiker Miller; longtime companion, Morris Hodge; four sisters, Flossie Simms, Ruby Mason, Bonnie Kohn, Pamela Sue Miller and a brother, Delmas Miller.
Calling Hours will be Sunday, February 22, 2014 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. The Funeral will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Garey McCartney will officiate. Burial will be in Kerr Cemetery.
