Roselyn Watson Obituary

Geneva, Illinois - Roselyn Chambers Watson, 93, passed away peacefully in Geneva, Illinois on Friday March 3, 2017.
She was born in Niles, Ohio on August 23, 1923 the daughter of John and Eva Chambers, grew up there and attended St. Stephen School, graduating from Niles McKinley High School in 1941 and from Warren Business College in 1943.
Roselyn first worked as a secretary at Federal Machine and Welding Company, then enjoyed a long and successful 29 year career at American Welding and Manufacturing Company until retiring in 1983. During that time, she achieved the level of Certified Professional Secretary. After her retirement, Roselyn worked for Carlisle's and later Dillard's Department Stores.
Roselyn was a devoted parishioner of St. Stephen Church. She was an active member of the Professional Secretaries Association, Quest Club, Zonta International and in later years, served terms as the president of the Niles Historical Society. Roselyn loved spending time with family and friends. She was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting and cross-stitch.
Roselyn will be dearly missed by her surviving family; a son Randall (Lois) Watson of Oxford, Ohio; daughter Kristen (David) Mather of Geneva, Illinois; five grandchildren, Andrew (Amanda) Watson, Robb (Kristin) Watson, Timothy Watson, Ryan Mather, Kelly Mather; two great grandchildren, Valerie Watson and Adam Watson; sisters; Marguerite Hood, Patricia Black, Lois (Frank) Burlingham and many loved nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 30 years, John (Jack) Watson; and infant daughter; one sister, Mary Huff; three brothers, Robert Chambers, William Chambers and Bernard Chambers.
Special thanks are extended to all the staff at Arden Court in Geneva for all the professional and loving care given to Roselyn. Also, many thanks to her hospice team who offered comfort and care to Roselyn and her family during her final days.
A Service of Christian Burial will be Monday April 3, 2017 at noon at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home where family and friends may call one hour prior to the service. Rev. John-Michael Lavelle will officiate. Burial will be in the Niles City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephen Church 129 West Park Avenue, Niles, OH 44446 or Northwestern Medicine Home Health and Hospice, 690 East North Avenue, Carol Stream, IL 60188.
