NILES - Carmella Louise "Carmel" Perna, 93, of Niles, died at 3:15 pm on Sunday January 24, 2010 at the Forum Health-Trumbull Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Youngstown, Ohio on March 14, 1916 to Antonio and Maria C. (Acierno) Pesce and moved to the Niles area in 1946 from Youngstown.
She was a member of St. Stephen Church, the Niles Catholic Womens Club, Niles Scope Center, and an avid card player. For several years, she worked as a clerk at Peche Bakery and Hughes & Hatchers retiring in the 1980's.
Carmella is survived by a brother, Anthony Pesce of Hubbard; three sisters in law, Ruth Pesce of Youngstown, Jenny Pesce of Campbell; Mary Lamonge of Niles; caregiver and niece, Julia Baron of Niles and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James P. Perna whom she married on September 8, 1943 and who died on January 16, 2000; three brothers, Thomas Pesce, Michael Pesce, John Pesce and an Infant Sister.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 10:00 am at St. Stephen Church. No Calling Hours. Everyone please meet at church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
