NILES - Norman T. Henninger Sr., 77, of 122 South Butler Street, died at 3:17 am on Sunday January 3, 2010 at his residence from a house fire.

He was born in Niles, Ohio on November 14, 1932 to Bert and Mary Jane "Jennie" (Vandergrift) Henninger Sr. and lived in this community all his life.
 
He retired in 1995 after working several years in the shipping and receiving department at Niles Manufacturing.  He previously was the yard manager for the former Rose Building and Supply Company. He was a National Honorary member of the Army and Navy Union USA Incorporated, a  member of the Army & Navy 252 of Niles and the Bella Napoli Club, an avid Cleveland Indians and Browns fan.  He enjoyed flower gardening and carpentery work and in the 1950s and 1960s was an avid bowler with a semi-pro ranking.
 
Norman is survived by his wife Alberta J. (Emerson) Henninger whom he married on June 23, 1951; two sons, Norman (Nancy) Henninger Jr. of Niles, Randy L. ( Carol ) Henninger of Chesapeake, VA; 10 Grandchildren Crystal, Jason, Shellie, Heather, Norman III, Nannette, Tracy, Greg, Dale, and Joe; 24 Great Grandchildren; two sisters, Audrey Fleming of Jefferson, and  Barbara Bubby of Niles.
 
He was preceded in death by five sisters, Loretta Walters, Virginia Brockett, Mary Louies Thornsberry and two infants; four brothers, Wallace Henninger, Vernon Henninger, Bert "Bud" Henninger Jr. and Paul "Bus" Henninger..
 
The Funeral will be Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 1:00 pm at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Bernard M. Oakes officiating.  Family and friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Private burial will be at Niles City Cemetery on Monday morning.
 
Memorial contributions may be made at any Chase Bank in the name of Alberta Henninger.
