HOWLAND TOWNSHIP - Robert Lee Hawkes Sr., 75, of Howland Township, died at 4:10pm on Monday February 8, 2010 at the Autumn Hills Nursing Home following a long illness.

He was born in Warren, Ohio on July 31, 1934 to Jabez and Elizabeth (Kinson) Hawkes and lived in this community all his life.
 
He was employed for 39 and a half years at J & L Specialty Steel where he ran the carpenter shop and retired in 1995.
 
Robert is survived by his wife Shirley E. (Martin) Hawkes whom he married on June 25, 1955; four children, Eva Marie Hawkes of Sharpsville, PA, Robert L. (Debra) Hawkes of Niles, Donald Eugene (Anna) Hawkes of Bristol, Mary Ellen (Mark) Davis of Fort Mills, SC; five grandchildren  Robert J. (Jodi) Hawkes, Kana M. (Mike) Rexroad, Briana Hawkes, Clairisa Davis and Chelsea Davis and two great grandchildren Isabella and Olivia Rexroad.
 
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Alfred, Lester Hawkes; two sisters, Florence Powers and Dorothy Lee.
 
Friends may call at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home, Niles on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm and funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, February 11, 2010  at 11:00am  with Pastor Darrell Cline of the Evening Light Apostolic Church officiating. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery.
