LORDSTOWN - Virgil Eugene Tabor, 83, of 2565 Niles-Vienna Road, Niles, died at 4:09 am, Thursday, January 7, 2010 at the Autumn Hills Nursing Home following an extended illness.
He was born in Olive Hill, Kentucky on June 24, 1926 to Virgil and Marietta (Bear) Tabor and moved to the Lordstown area in 1949.
An Army veteran of World War II, he retired in 1983 after working as a slitter operator at J. & L. Steel, Louisville, Ohio and previously as a mill operator at the former Mahoning Valley Steel Company, Niles. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and woodworking and was an excellent carpenter.
Virgil is survived by his wife Mary M. (Fultz) Tabor whom he married on October 11, 1947; five children, Diannia (Curtis) Behner of Lordstown, Michael (Diana) Tabor of Salem, Chris ( Barry ) Kacmar of Lordstown, Ronald (Donna) Tabor of Boardman, Rickey Tabor of Bristolville; 14 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, a brother, Marion (Peggy) Tabor of Omaha, NE and a sister, Avanell Brown of Niles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Larry Tabor, grandson Chad Frantz, three brothers, Harlan, Charles, and Jack Tabor, three sisters, Faye Earls, Wilma Lowe, Elizabeth Butler.
Calling Hours will be Sunday, January 10, 2010 from 4:00pm to 6:00 pm and Monday from 10:00am to 10:30am at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. The Funeral will be Monday, January 11, 2010 at 10:30am at the funeral home. Burial will be at Lordstown Cemetery.
