Earl E. Oakman

Earl E. Oakman, "Pappy",89, passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at his son's home in Austintown. Earl was born in Jerome, Pennsylvania on June 26, 1934 the son of Earl M. and Ada (Yoder) Oakman. He was a graduate of Somerset High School in Somerset, Pennsylvania.

Earl began his working career at the age of 11 as a paper boy. He continued in the newspaper industry until he retired in 1995 after working his last 26 years as a printer at the Youngstown Vindicator. Earl enjoyed spending time golfing, woodworking and antiquing. He especially enjoyed traveling and wintering in Florida with his wife.

Memories of Earl will be carried on by his children Gregory (Karen) Oakman, David Oakman and Brenda (Dennis) Devenport; grandchildren Brandy (Nelson), Autumn, Jed, Morgan (Doug), Ashley, Mathew (Amanda), Samantha and Benjamin; great grandchildren Noah (Rebecca), Jonah, Avah, Kailee (Jake), Kaiden, Cole, Leo and Waveland and special friends Shayna and Rodger. He was preceded in death by his wife Gloria (Swift) Oakman whom he married on June 28, 1952 and son, Michael Oakman.

A private graveside service was held at Niles City Cemetery.
