AUSTINTOWN - Dorothy Mae Embert 86, passed away at 12:40 p.m. on Wednesday December 26, 2018 at the Humility House following a brief illness and with her loving family at her side. She was born in Niles, Ohio on July 4, 1932 a daughter of Frank and Mildred (Borovich) Bako Jr. and lived in the Niles community all of her life. Dorothy was a graduate of Niles McKinley High School and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Niles and the First United Methodist Church, Andover.
Dorothy's first job was putting filaments in light bulbs at Ohio Lamp in Niles. She also worked at the Men's and Boy's Shop in Downtown Niles as a seamstress, the Wedding Shop in the Eastwood Mall where she coordinated invitations, napkins and favors for all occasions, as an aide for the Niles City Schools at Garfield Elementary, the YMCA on South Main Street and sold AVON Products for over 25 years. For many years, she was very active in scouting, as a Boy Scout Den Mother and a Girl Scout Troop Leader.
She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, ceramics, swimming and playing games of cards and bingo. She and her husband spent some 40 years at Jeffco Lake Campgrounds in Andover during the summer months. They traveled to Niagara Falls and loved to watch the sunsets at Wasaga Beach in Ontario Canada with her family. Most of all she cherished the time spent with her grandchildren. Dorothy is survived by a son, David "Rick" Embert of Niles; daughter, Susan (Dominic) Messuri of Canfield; three grandchildren, Kim (Danny) Greene of Highland Heights, Michael Messuri of Canfield, Marie Messuri of Canfield; three great grandchildren Raegan Mae Greene and twins Brody and Casey Greene.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband David M. Embert whom she married on June 5, 1951 and who died on January 31, 2015.
At Dorothy's request there are no calling hours or services. Entombment will be in Niles City Cemetery.
