AUSTINTOWN - Frances M. Disko, 97, passed away peacefully at 10:57 pm on Sunday July 20, 2014 at the Humility House where she had lived for the past five years.
She was born in Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania on July 15, 1917 the daughter of Frank and Carmela (Lagana) Crupi and moved to the Niles as a child. She formerly lived on Highland Avenue in Niles.
She was a member of St. Stephen Church, its Altar and Rosary Society, Infant of Prague Guild, Niles Catholic Womens Club, Niles Senior Citizens Center, VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the DAV Ladies Auxiliary.
Frances is survived by two sons, John F. "Jack" Disko of Tallmadge, Joseph L. Disko of McKinney, Texas, daughter, Mary Frances (William) Gardner of Rochester, New Hampshire; six grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband John M. Disko whom she married on May 6, 1950 and who died on March 12, 1987; two sisters, Infant Eve Crupi and Josephine Golubic, two brothers, Joseph and Frank Crupi, two sisters-in-law, Mary Benyei and Irma Squeglia, four brothers-in-law, Leslie, Joseph, Michael and George Disko.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at St. Stephen Church. Rev. Thomas Kraszewski will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery. At the request of Frances, there are no calling hours. Her family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Humility House for their compassion and wonderful care of Frances.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephen Church Tuition Angel Fund.
