HOWLAND - John Joseph Hoso, 86, passed away at 1:04 p.m. on Thursday July 5, 2018 at the Shepherd of the Valley Assisted Living in Howland. He was born in Niles on April 16, 1932 the son of Frank and Pauline (Paris) Hoso Sr. and was a lifelong resident of Niles.
John was a 1950 graduate of Niles McKinley High School, received his Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Youngstown State University and his Master's Degree from Westminster College. He honorably served in the United States Air Force. He retired after a career as a teacher and principal at the Niles City Schools System and also for many years he coached track and football. John was an avid Notre Dame fan and was always proud of the Niles McKinley Red Dragons. He was a member of St. Stephen Parish, Niles and enjoyed horse racing. John is survived by his sister-in-law, Sylvia Hoso of Warren; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Ann Bishop; and brother, Frank J. Hoso Jr. A Service of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home where family and friends may call one hour prior to the service. Rev. James Korda will officiate. Burial will be in the Veteran's Section at Niles City Cemetery.
