Margaret Bowker Obituary
NILES - Margaret Bowker, 99, passed away peacefully at 8:55 pm, Sunday October 19, 2014 at Autumn Hills Nursing Home following an extended illness.
Margaret was born in Youngstown, Ohio on November 2, 1914 the daughter of Tony and Mary (Machinga) Strah and has lived in this area all her life. She was affectionately known by many as Peg.
Margaret was a homemaker and a poll worker for 20 years with the Trumbull County Board of Elections. She was a babysitter for family members and friends and enjoyed cooking, baking, needlepoint and traveling. She was an active member of the Niles First Presbyterian Church, the child study group, womens circle and helped serve the weekly Niles Rotary Club lunches.
Margaret is survived by three sons, Thomas B. (Carole) Bowker of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Laurin H. "Larry" Bowker Jr. of Warren, Ronald L. Bowker of Oregon; three grandchildren Dana, Eric and Aaron Bowker; sister, Julie Sherlock of Girard.
She was preceded in death by her husband Laurin H. "Chippy" Bowker Sr. whom she married June 22, 1935 and who died in December of 1988; sister, Ann Gunther; two brothers, Tony and Edward Strah.
The Funeral will be Saturday, October 25, 2014, at 10:30 am at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home where friends may call one hour before services. The Rev. Dr. Robert Hoover will officiate. Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
