Marjie Vaughn Obituary
NILES - Marjie J. Vaughn 91, passed away peacefully at 9:19 a.m. on her birthday, Sunday April 28, 2019 at the Shepherd of the Valley Nursing Home, Niles following an extended illness. Marjie was born in Warren, Ohio on April 28, 1928 a daughter of Earl and Mildred (Farr) McFarland and has lived in Niles all her life.
Marjie was a graduate of Niles McKinley High School, worked at Ohio Lamp and was the manager at the Eastwood Mall Hickory Farms Store for over 15 years. She was a member of the Niles First United Methodist Church, Niles Democratic Womens Club and the Niles Women of the Moose Lodge. She enjoyed reading, working around her yard and gardening. She was proud of the fact that she was still cutting her own yard with a push mower well into her 70's. Most of all she cherished the time spent with her family and her grandchildren whom she adored.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Jackie Gentile of Girard; son, Doug (Karen) Vaughn of Centerville, Virginia; six grandchildren: Bill Gentile, Vince Gentile both of Girard, Heather Vaughn (Jim) Gallas, Doug Vaughn II, Samantha Vaughn, Jessica Vaughn, twin great grandsons Nick and Troy Fracyon all of Virginia.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband John Venor "Jack" Vaughn whom she married April 26, 1947 and who died January 14, 1984; father, Earl McFarland; mother, Mildred Tragesser; step-father, George Tragesser; three brothers James McFarland, John McFarland and Robert R. Kimple.
Calling hours will be from Noon to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday May 2, 2019 at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Paula Marbury officiating. Private burial will be at Niles City Cemetery.
