NILES - Mona Irene Schreur, 87, passed away unexpectedly at 1:23 p.m., Saturday, August 11, 2018 at the St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown following a short illness. Mona was born in Carter County, Kentucky on May 14, 1931 the daughter of George Russell and Pearlie Mae (Barker) Clay. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior and to be reunited with her husband John who died January 20, 1993.
Mona retired from Packard Electric Company where she was an electrical harness worker for 30 years. She was a member of the Niles First Baptist Church where she had served in her younger years as a Sunday School teacher, Awana leader, and Vacation Bible School volunteer. Mona loved serving her Lord.
Mona is survived and will be sadly missed by a sister, Minnie Brown of Newton Falls; brother, Walter Roger Clay of Niles; sister-in-law, Margaret Clay of Newton Falls, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband John S. Schreur whom she married May 16, 1964 at the Niles First Baptist Church. Three sisters, Infant Nora Clay, Ruth Renner, Pauline Cross; two brothers Henry and George Clay.
Funeral services will be at the Niles First Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 with the Rev. David Burman and Rev G. Ben Reed officiating. Visitation will be held at the Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery, Newton Falls, Ohio.
