NILES - Nettie Catron, 79, passed away at 5:07 a.m. on Saturday August 29, 2015 at the St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown following an extended illness.
She was born in Carter County, Kentucky on December 13, 1935 the daughter of Everett and Vada (Williams) Porter.
She worked for the Niles Daily Times and was a cook at The Old Main Chowder House, Woolworths at the Eastwood Mall and the Army and Navy Garrison 252 in Niles. She was a member of the DeForest Road Free Will Baptist Church and enjoyed quilting and sewing. She especially cherished the time spent with her family and friends.
Nettie is survived by two daughters, Trennia (David) Cross of Niles, Teresa (Pete) Loveless of Niles; two sons, Charles Catron of Niles, David (Darlene) Catron of Liberty; four grandchildren, Shannon, Angie, David Jr., Tiffany; three great grandchildren, Nathan, Willow, Olivia; brother, Randall Porter of Olive Hill, Kentucky; two sisters, Marietta Beecham of Mansfield, Omega Cole of Mansfield.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elzie Ray Catron whom she married on September 9, 1955 and who died on September 12, 2003; daughter, Treda Catron; three brothers, Norman Porter, Willard Porter, Woodrow Baricks; three sisters, Nellie Porter, Shirley Porter, Ottie Mays.
Calling hours will be Monday, August 31, 2015 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. The Funeral will be Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Pastor Starkey Gilliam will officiate. Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
