Richard Turschak Obituary
NILES - Richard D. Turschak, 74, passed away peacefully at 12:45 a.m. on Wednesday September 7, 2016 at the Lake Vista Nursing Home following a brief illness.
He was born in Youngstown on September 10, 1941 the son of George and Amelia (Pokoj) Turschak and grew up in Campbell and lived in Niles following his marriage.
He was a 1959 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School and honorably served in the United States Army. He retired in 1994 after working 28 years in the stationary engineer and maintenance departments at General Motors Lordstown. He was of the Catholic Faith, a member of the UAW and the former Athletic Director for the Niles Little Red Dragons. He was an avid collector and restorer of antique cars. For the past four years he spent the winter months at the Desota Village Retirement Community in Arcadia, Florida.
Richard is survived by his wife Sueann (Brincko) Turschak whom he married on June 24, 1963; two daughters, Rhonda (Jim) Accordino of Cortland, Judy (Vernon) Murphy of Niles; two sons, Rich (Leigh Ann) Turschak of Stow, Shawn (Rachel) Turschak of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; nine grandchildren, Amanda Accordino, Alexis Accordino, Shawne-Marinn Murphy, Lauren Turschak, Jason Turschak, Emily Turschak, Olivia Turschak, Isabel Turschak, Grace Turschak; two sisters, Dorothy Stellmar of Struthers, Cynthia (Larry) Iorio of California; brother, Russell (Mary Ann) Turschak of Campbell.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved dog, Jackie.
Calling hours will be Friday, September 9, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. A Service of Christian Burial will be Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home where family and friends may also call one hour prior to the service. Rev. James Korda will officiate. Burial services will be private in Florida.
