Sandra Ray Estes

Sandra Ray Estes , 79, passed away peacefully at 7:07 p.m. on Monday, February 10, 2025 at the Gillette Nursing Home following an extended illness. Sandy was born in Niles, Ohio on April 23, 1945 the daughter of Shirley William and Zola B. (Tomlin) Estes and lived in the Niles-Girard area all her life.

Sandy attended the Girard School System and was of the Pentecostal faith. She enjoyed talking on the telephone, watching television, going to the casinos and playing the lottery.

Sandy is survived by her children: Lonnie (Jeff) Mostoller of Cortland, Connie (Peter) Papas of Mineral Ridge, Jerry (Lori) Utley of Champion, Shawn Butler of Clarksville, Tennessee; sister Lora Gromley of Niles; ten grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents; 13 siblings; husbands Jerry Utley on March 22, 1969 and John Upchurch Jr. on May 24, 2013.

Funeral services will be held at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Garey McCartney officiating. Calling hours are at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00 am to 10:30 am. Burial will be in the Niles City Cemetery.
