Shirley DeChristofaro Obituary
Shirley Jane DeChristofaro, 77, passed away peacefully at 7:50 p.m., Sunday, July 10, 2016 at the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh following complications of a stroke. Shirley was born in Warren, Ohio on August 5, 1938 the daughter of Daniel and Nettie (Stephenson) McGlone and has lived in this area most of her life.
Shirley graduated from Mineral Ridge High School, attended the Braceville Christian Church, was an active member of the Niles Scope Center where she enjoyed playing cards, a member of the Girard Eagles Auxiliary, enjoyed visiting the area casinos, and having lunch or dinner with her many close friends.
Shirley was employed as the office manager at Dillards Department Store for 10 years and recently as the cashier and clerk for the Niles Laundry Service.
She is survived by her son, Kenneth C. Criswell of Niles; companion, Robert (Woody) Whitacre with whom she lived; sister Audrey Haynie of Vienna; brother Raymond McGlone of Ronceverte, West Virginia; three step-daughters, Judy (Brett) Haughawout of Niles, Mary Ann (Danny) Nowacki of Toledo, Lou Ann (Ed Barrett) Kiger of Cleveland; her companion cat Goldie and dog B.J. and many nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her first husband Robert E. Criswell Jr. on June 26, 2001 and her second husband Danny J. DeChristofaro whom she married December 21, 1985 and he died November 23, 2011, a son Bryan Criswell died November 10, 1973, Step-son, D.J. DeChristofaro, five brothers, Eugene, Paul, Orville, James, and Daniel McGlone.
Funeral services will be held at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home, at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, July 14, 2016 with Pastor Thomas Whitacre officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to the time of the service. Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
