NILES - Virginia Sygar, 97 passed away peacefully at 2:25 a.m. on Friday June 17, 2016 at the Shepherd of the Valley Nursing Home, Niles following an extended illness.
Virginia was born in Warren, Ohio on January 16, 1919 the daughter of Walter and Helen (Moczulski) Madusjeski and lived on Fairlawn Avenue in Niles where she and her husband raised their family and actively participated in their school and sporting activities.
Virginia was a member of Saint Stephen Church, a 1937 Warren G. Harding High School graduate, member of the Sweet Adelines singing group, avid golfer, enjoyed gardening and playing scrabble.
Virginia retired in 1978 as a supermarket cashier where she was employed for nine years.
Virginia is survived and will be greatly missed by her six sons and a daughter, James Sygar of Cortland, Richard (Janet) Sygar of, New York City, Sally Ann (Ron) Nolder of The Villages, Florida, Vince Sygar of Redondo Beach, California, Robert (Sheila) Sygar of Bowie, Maryland, William Sygar of Warren, Daniel (Colleen) Sygar of Northville, Michigan, a sister, Gertrude Vingle of Cortland, nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Stephen Sygar whom she married October 17, 1938 and he died September 15, 2004; two sisters, Rose Jones, Jessie Foos and a brother, Matthew Madus.
Calling Hours for family and friends will be Monday, June 20, 2016 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home, Niles. A Service of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. James Korda officiating. Burial will be in Pineview Memorial Park.
