Wanda Kanchok Obituary
NILES - Wanda H. Kanchok, 89, passed away at 4:05 p.m. on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.
She was born in Youngstown on November 30, 1926 the daughter of William and Hilda (Patzenhauer) Weidel and lived here most of her life.
Wanda was a graduate of Youngstown Rayen High School and received an Associate Degree from Youngstown State University. She was a active member of the Niles Women of the Moose and served as a Past President and Graduate Regent. Wanda was also a member of the Professional Business Women's Association and served as a Past President . During her lifetime, she worked in the bakery department at TOPS Grocery Store, Niles, and at several other area retail establishments. She was a successful AVON representative and enjoyed painting, doing crossword puzzles and traveling, especially to the casinos.
Wanda is survived by a daughter, Kathy L. Kanchok with whom she lived; son, Bill Kanchok and Cyndi Conn Kanchok of Lordstown; three grandchildren, Bill (Sarah) Kanchok, Mary Henderson, Cindy (Nick) Pawcio; two great grandchildren, Piper Kanchok and T.J. (Catlin) Foder.
She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer L. Kanchok whom she married in June of 1944 and who died on February 20, 1983; son, Jack Roy Kanchok who died on August 14, 1978 and a sister, Evelyn Yonnotti.
Calling Hours will be Saturday, October 1, 2016 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Dwight Hedglin officiating. Burial will be in Gustavus Township Cemetery.
