Agnes Jean Wissinger

Agnes Jean Wissinger , 83, passed away on Thursday morning March 27, 2025 at her home. She was born in Vandergrift, Pennsylvania on December 22, 1941 the daughter of Jacob and Gladys (Henneman) Shaffer.

She was a longtime member of the New Hope United Methodist Church in Niles and the Order of the Eastern Star. For 18 years she was a Red Cross Volunteer and taught swimming at Waddell Park swimming pool in Niles. She enjoyed bowling, swimming, playing bingo, traveling and baking cookies. Most of all, she cherished the time spent with her family. Many would say, "once you met Jean, you were no longer a stranger, you became her friend."

Jean is survived by son, David (Bobbie Ann) Wissinger of Colorado Springs, Colorado; three daughters, Denise Beatty of Niles, Debra Fife of Niles, Deanna (Tim) Schubert of Vienna; 12 grandchildren, Jamilynn Wissinger, TJ Wissinger, Greg Wissinger, Justiellen Wissinger, Joshua Knapp, Justin Beatty, Deena Lynn Fife, Danielle Hoffman, Gina Rohland, Alyssa Rohland, Max Schubert, Katarina Schubert; 28 great grandchildren; siblings, Sandy Kay (Larry) Ozanich of Niles, Art Shaffer of Champion and Harry (Sharon) Shaffer of Champion.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dean Edward Wissinger whom she married on July 25, 1961 and who died on February 15, 2025; great grandson, Evan Russell Knapp; three brothers, Jacob Shaffer, David Eugene Shaffer and John Shaffer.

Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday March 31, 2025 at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday April 1, 2025 at the funeral home where family and friends may also call an hour prior to the service. Rev. Dick Smith and Pastor Dale Henneman will officiate. Burial will be in Kerr Cemetery.
