Ann F. Ford

Ann F. Ford, 92, passed away peacefully at home with her loving family by her side on Thursday morning November 10, 2022. She was born in Wheeling, West Virginia on September 16, 1930 the daughter of Louis O. and Katherine (McCool) Dischinger.

Ann was a graduate of St. Joseph Academy in Wheeling, West Virginia. Following graduation she was a switchboard coordinator for the Chesapeake and Ohio Telephone Company. After raising her children, she worked as a bookkeeper for several local physicians. After serving her community as a longtime precinct committeeperson, Ann ran for and was overwhelmingly elected Auditor for the City of Niles and served three terms (twelve years). She retired from the city in 1992.

She was a member of St. Stephen Church, the Niles Catholic Women's Club where she served as president, Christian Family Movement (CFM), PreCana, Zonta Club, TOPS, Red Hatters, Niles Historical Society and the Friends of the McKinley Memorial Library. She enjoyed playing bridge and 500 at the SCOPE center. Most of all, Ann loved her family holidays and travel adventures especially the family reunions at Atwood Lake and spending winters at their Florida condo.

Ann is survived by her husband James P. Ford whom she married on June 15, 1953; seven children, Mary Kay Ingersoll (Mike Perrotta) of Fairport, New York, Ellen S. Ford of Niles, James R. (Anne) Ford of Niles, Peter K. (Marcia) Ford of Champion, John D. Ford of Dublin, Sally A. (David) Chronister of East Liverpool, Patricia M. Bennett of Dublin; 14 grandchildren, Gregory (Courtney) Holtz, Leeann Ingersoll, Senator J.D. Ford, Jennifer Skocik (Mark Olson), Samantha Ford, Melissa Ford, Kathryn "Katie" (Matt) Crossley, Emily (Paul) Davis, Brianna Chronister, Alana Chronister, Kylie Chronister, Bridgette Chronister, Kaitlyn (Evan) Matheney, Mackenzie Bennett; 9 great grandchildren, Carter Holtz, Evan Holtz, A.J. Skocik, Olivia Skocik, Ben Crossley, Nate Crossley, Baylen Davis, Banks Davis, Evander Matheney.

She was preceded in death by her son, Richard Louis Ford who died in 1955 and an infant brother Louis Dischinger.

Calling hours will be from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday November 13. 2022 at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home where the St. Stephen Bereavement Ministry will have a 4:30 p.m. prayer service. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday November 14, 2022 at St. Stephen Church preceded by a 12:30 p.m. prayer service at the funeral home. Rev. Richard Murphy will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephen Church or St. Vincent dePaul Society.
