NILES - Ann Panfile Lightner,
84, went home to be with her Lord at 11:35 pm on Monday July 22,
2013 at the Autumn Hills Nursing Home after suffering a stoke and
an extended illness.
She was born in Huntington, West Virginia on
April 23, 1929 the daughter of George and Elvira (Rogers) Panfile
and came to Niles as a baby in her mother's arms.
She was a 1947 graduate of Niles McKinley High
School and the Warren Business College. She retired due to
illness after 35 and a half years as a secretary in the engineering
deapartment at Wean United Engineering. She was a member of
the Wean Ladies golf and bowling leagues.
Her greatest pride and love was her faith in the
Lord Jesus Christ followed by her love and devotion to her husband
and son. She was raised in the First Baptist Church of Niles
, since birth and remained there until 1978 when the family
transferred to Christ Memorial Baptist Church in Warren. They
became active members for seventeen years, Ann served as president
of the Missionary Fellowship, a member of the Ambassadors Sunday
School Class, sang in the choir and played the piano for several
years until her health problems no longer permitted that service
for the Lord. In 1993, she was chosen "Woman of the Year" by
the Ladies Missionary Fellowship. In 1995 she returned back
to the First Baptist Church of Niles where she sang in the choir
and was a member of the Berean Sunday School Class.
Ann is survived by her loving and caring husband,
Lester L. Lightner whom she married on August 16, 1963.
She was preceded in death by a son, Gary William
Lightner who died on November 4, 2003 and three sisters, Lavidia
"Libby" Novey, Rachel Franklin, Violet Gilliss.
The Funeral will be Thursday, July 25, 2013 at
11:00 am at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home where family and
friends may call one hour prior to the service. Rev. David
Burman Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Kerr
Cemetery.
