Anthony "Chick" Massaro

November 18, 1935 — January 31, 2025

Anthony N. "Chick" Massaro , 89, passed away peacefully on Friday morning January 31, 2025 at the Brookdale Assisted Living in Austintown. He was born in Niles, Ohio on November 18, 1935 the son of Anthony and Rose (Sabino) Massaro and lived most of his life in this community.

Chick was a 1954 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and honorably served in the United States Army. After working 41 years, he retired from National Gypsum Company in Niles. He also served as bartender for over 25 years at the Victorian Room Banquet Center in Niles. Chick loved football and cheered for the Niles McKinley Red Dragons, YSU Penquins, OSU Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns. He enjoyed fishing, boating and going to the casinos with his wife and cousins.

Chick is survived by his wife Betty M. (Pirigyi) Massaro whom he married on June 6, 1959; son, John Massaro of McDonald; four grandchildren; and nephew, Stephen (Mary Kay) Pirigyi of Niles. He was preceded in death by a son, Paul A. Massaro who died on September 9, 2004; sister, Ann Nemes and brother, Vincent Massaro.

A Service of Christian Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday February 2, 2025 at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. Rev. Bala Marneni of Saint Pope John XXIII Parish will officiate. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the service. Burial will be on Monday at Kerr Cemetery.
