Barbara Jean Salyard

Barbara Jean Salyard, 75, passed away at 9:06 p.m. on Thursday September 21, 2023 at the Trumbull Regional Medical Center. She was born in Warren, Ohio on December 31, 1947 the daughter of Delmar and Elizabeth (Smolka) Swindler Sr.

She was a proud resident of Niles, was a 1966 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and received an Associate Degree in 1998 from the Kent State University Trumbull Branch. She worked for the Niles City School System and later retired in 2017 after working 20 years as a telecommunicator at Infocision.

Barb was a devoted Roman Catholic, finding solace and inspiration in her faith. She was a member of St. Mary's Church and St. Stephen Church where she served as a Lector at mass. Her love for the Cleveland Indians/Guardians, Cavaliers and most of all the Browns knew no bounds and she was known for her spirited support of her beloved teams. She was a connoisseur of chocolate where she delighted in indulging in several varieties. Barb touched the lives of many with her compassion, kindness and faith. She leaves a legacy of love, devotion and will be remembered as she lives in the hearts of those who were blessed to have known her.

Barb, a caring mother and pillar of strength, is survived by five children, Raymond (Stacie) Salyard Jr. of Niles, Julie Salyard of Warren, Brian Salyard of Austintown, Tony Salyard and partner Jennifer Frank of Warren, Shane (Jennifer) Salyard of Liberty Township; four grandchildren, Maura, Tristen, Brittany, Kyle; one great grandson, Timothy; siblings, Kenneth (Linda) Tripodi of Niles, Rocky Tripodi of Georgia, Nancy Maybe of Niles, Mary Dee Phillips of Niles, Elizabeth (Dave) Pasek of Niles, John Swindler of Niles, Delmar (Vicky) Swindler Jr. of Dallas, Texas, Anthony (Theresa) Swindler of Liberty Township, Charles (Candace) Swindler of Warren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Lloyd Salyard Sr. whom she married on March 23, 1968 and who died on September 15, 2007 and brother, Ronald Tripodi.

Calling hours will be from 9 to 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home in Niles. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Mineral Ridge. Rev. Richard Murphy will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Church or St. Stephen Church.
