CORTLAND - Betty Ann Jocola, 89, passed away peacefully at 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at the Ohio Living Lake Vista Nursing Home following an extended illness.. Betty was born in Youngstown, Ohio on April 11, 1932 the daughter of Robert J. and Mary A. (Devorich) Gosmer and has lived in this area all her life. Betty was a former member of Saint Stephen Church, Niles and recently attended Saint Thomas the Apostle Parish in Vienna. She was a 1950 graduate of Saint Mary's High School,Warren, a longtime Trumbull County Chapter American Red Cross volunteer. She enjoyed traveling, fishing and all the family activities with her daughters and grandchildren. Betty is survived by two daughters, Patricia LaRocca and friend Joe Dean, Mary Merolla and husband Tony, four grandchildren Jim and Lauren LaRocca, Allison LaRocca, Michael and Hailey Merolla, Kathryn Merolla, two great grandchildren Natalie and Jack. Her only sister, Mary Ann and Richard Killing, niece, Kim and Nathan Shope. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at Saint Thomas the Apostle Church of Vienna with the Rev. Scott Kopp officiating. Family and friends may call at the church one hour before the services. Burial will be private at All Souls Cemetery. The family request that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Parkinson"s Disease Foundation, 200 SE First Street, Suite 800, Miami, Florida 33131 or the Michael J. Fox Foundation, P.O.Box 5014, Hagerstown, Maryland, 21741-5014. A special thank you is extended to Ohio Living Hospice for their recent care.
