NILES - Carmen Palumbo, 67, passed away peacefully at 5:55 pm on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at the Autumn Hills Nursing Home following a long illness.
He was born in Youngstown on January 24, 1946 the son of Carmen and Josephine (Centanfonti) Palumbo.
A 1964 graduate of Youngstown East High School, he was a heater helper for 18 years at Youngstown Sheet and Tube, Campbell Coke Plant. He retired in March of 2012 after 25 years as a process server for the Trumbull County Child Support Enforcement Agency. He was an avid Cleveland Indians, Browns, Notre Dame and Niles McKinley High School Football fan.
Carmen is survived by his wife Elaine (Rounds) Palumbo whom he married on August 30, 1975; two sons, Michael (Kim) Palumbo of Niles, Rich (Stephanie) Palumbo of Niles; four grandchildren, Miranda Timko, Anthony Palumbo, Lexie Palumbo, Nicholas Palumbo; sister, Patricia Jackintell of Struthers; brother, Achilles Palumbo of Baltimore, Maryland.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Annette Pacalo.
Calling Hours will be Friday, January 10, 2014 from 6 to 8 pm at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. The Funeral will be Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 10:30 am at the funeral home. Rev. Thomas Kraszewski will officiate. Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice House 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, Ohio 44514.
