Catherine Joseph

Catherine Joseph, 95, formerly of Niles, passed away at 10:07 p.m. on Tuesday October 4, 2022 at the Villa St. Joseph Nursing Facility in Garfield Heights, Ohio. She was born in Niles, Ohio on May 6, 1927 the daughter of Alec and Rosalia (Naberezny) Antonchak.

She was a graduate of Niles McKinley High School and a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Niles. Catherine enjoyed sitting on her front porch, visiting with neighbors, going out to dinner with family, tending to her vegetable garden and watching her childrens' sporting events. Her favorite past time was walking and was often seen walking through the neighborhood. She and her family delivered the Niles Daily Times for over forty years and she was a volunteer for Trumbull County Meals on Wheels.

Catherine is survived by eight children, George (Cathie) Joseph Jr. of Niles, Cathy Reppy of Niles, Gregory (Joe) Joseph of Columbus, Cindy (Brad) Baker of Chagrin Falls, Christine (Art) Shibley of Aurora, Celeste (John) Griffin of Cincinnati, Cheryl (Tom) Lukz of Long Grove, Illinois, Gary Joseph of Moreland Hills; 18 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband George Francis Joseph Sr. whom she married on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 1952 and who died on May 13, 2004; brother, Peter Antonchak and three sisters, Julia Krenciprok, Mary Solomon Perhach, Ann Collins.

A private Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Stephen Church. Rev. Richard Murphy was the celebrant. Burial was in Niles City Cemetery.
