NILES - Daniel James Farmer, 84, passed away peacefully at 8:35 a.m., Sunday, February 8, 2015 at Autumn Hills Nursing Home following a year long illness with cancer.
Daniel was born in Youngstown, Ohio on November 20, 1930 the son of Norman and Lillian (McFadden) Farmer.
He was a machinist for several machine shops including Wean Manufacturing and retired in 1999 from Glunt Industries, Inc. He also drove steel truck for Kaplan Trucking of Girard for 17 years. He was a member of the Niles First United Methodist Church and the Mosquito Lake Power Squadron. He enjoyed boating, fishing and hunting.
Daniel is survived by his wife Dorothy Mae (Coates) Farmer whom he married November 24, 1950; four sons Daniel (Marie) Farmer II of Richlands, North Carolina, David (Karen) Farmer of Nicholasville, Kentucky, Douglas (Dana) Farmer of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Dwayne Farmer of Richlands, North Carolina; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Keith Wayne Farmer; sister, Marilyn Gallagher.
Calling hours will be Thursday, February 12, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Nathan Howe will officiate. Burial will be in Kerr Cemetery.
