Darlene Kay Shay

Darlene Kay Shay , 72, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, June 17, 2025 at the Hospice House following an extended illness. Darlene was born in Butler, Pennsylvania on May 7, 1953 the daughter of Ernest E. and Roberta J. (Sutton) Bullman.

Darlene was a 1971 graduate of the Karns City Area High School and furthered her education at Butler County College with a degree in Accounting. Darlene was a member of the Apostolic Assembly of Mineral Ridge and a Sunday School teacher. She believed and came to Christ and lived her life to glorify the Lord.  D arlene was employed for over 20 years as a bookkeeper for the Trumbull County Family Juvenile Court. She enjoyed time spent with her family, her church family, singing at church, board games, walks, reading the Bible and traveling on Christian outings.

Darlene is survived by a daughter, Karri B. Comer with whom she lived; son, Kevin P. (Amanda M.) Shay of Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania; three grandchildren, Austin T. Comer of Girard, Devin J. (Gillian) Comer of Niles, Madelyn A. Comer of Girard; two sisters, Nancy L. (Larry) Gifford of Petrolia, Pennsylvania, Bonnie J. Marzik of Emlenton, Pennsylvania; brother, Ernest F. (Marge) Bullman of Houtzdale, Pennsylvania; several nieces, nephews, cousins and her caring church family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; former husband, Barry C. Shay; brother, Paul E. Bullman and brother-in-law Gerald G. Marzik.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2025 at the Apostolic Assembly of Mineral Ridge, 1603 East County Line Road, Mineral Ridge, Ohio 44440 where family and friends may call from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Following the funeral service everyone is welcome to the church fellowship hall for dinner.

Darlene's family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to Pastor Philip Burbridge and Sister Burbridge, the church family, Hospice House staff, along with many family and friends for their continued support, prayers and love during this difficult time.
