David H. Crawford

NILES - David H. Crawford, 79, passed away at 12:15 p.m. surrounded by his loving family on Thursday March 10, 2016 at his home following an extended illness. He was born in Fredonia, Pennsylvania on August 28, 1936 the son of Thomas and Margaret (Heath) Crawford. After 34 years, he retired from Packard Electric working in the skilled trades. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, hunting, fishing on Lake Erie, feeding the squirrels and birds, and caring for his pets. He also liked woodworking, reading, crossword puzzles and watching western movies and the History Channel on television. David is survived by his wife Barbara A. (Pitts) Crawford whom he married on October 22, 1955; two daughters, Darlene Loftus of Niles, Michelle Prox of Niles; son, Bruce David (Lisa Caldwell) Crawford of Poland; seven grandchildren, Joshua Crawford, Crystal (Jeff) Badyna, Tara (Tim) Sowers, Dana (fiance Nick) Loftus, Joseph (Taylor) Prox, Jacob Crawford, Shannon Crawford; five great grandchildren, Alvah, Adeline, Timothy, Zora, Zach; brother, Merrill "Bud" (Lil) Crawford of Niles; sister, Lois (Al) English of Niles. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Thomas Crawford, Melvin Crawford and sisters, Elizabeth Crawford and Barbara Morgan. Calling Hours will be Sunday March 13, 2016 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 4:00 p.m. Burial will be in Pineview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Southern Care Hospice or the Alzheimer's Association. The family appreciates the kind and compassionate care of Southern Care Hospice and the home health care aides Kaitii and Suzie.
