David R. "Rick" Embert , 70, passed away peacefully surrounded by family members at 12:58 p.m. on Sunday, June 2, 2024 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center Boardman following lifelong health issues that did not stop him from pushing forward in life. Rick was born in Warren, Ohio on April 7, 1954 the son of David M. and Dorothy Mae (Bako) Embert and lived in this area all his life.
Rick was a 1972 Niles McKinley High School graduate and was a member of the Niles Trinity Lutheran Church. He retired in 2016 as a craneman for Taylor Coil of Lordstown. He was previously employed for the Stanbaugh Thompson Company at McKinley Heights, LTV Steel Company, U.S. Can Company, and Olsher Metals.
As a single father, Rick was an active McKinley High School volunteer and served as the P.T.A. President and Band Booster President. He cherished his grandchildren and enjoyed sharing his time with them, making many special memories that will be held dearly in their hearts. Rick participated in multiple sport leagues and was a lifelong fan of Ohio State and Cleveland sport teams. Over the years, he attended many of these sporting events. He was an avid traveler to the beach, Niagara Falls and Disney World.
He is survived by his sister, Susan (Dominic) Messuri of Canfield; daughter, Kimberly Sue Embert Greene; three grandchildren, Raegan Mae Greene, Brody Richard Greene, Casey Marie Greene, all of Mayfield Heights, Ohio; nephew, Michael Messuri of Canfield; niece, Marie Messuri (fiance' Zack) of Canfield.
At Ricks request, there are no calling hours or funeral services. A private memorial service will be announced at a later time by the family.
Funeral arrangements are by the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home, Niles.
