Donald Ray Crank, 79, passed away peacefully at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, October 7, 2022 at the Gillette Nursing Home following a long illness. Don was born in Warren, Ohio on January 12, 1943 the son of Herbert and Bertha Eloise Richards Crank Sr. and has lived in this area all his life.
Don was a 1961 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and attended the Apostolic Pentecostal Church with his mother and family. He retired in 2007 as a buncher operator at the former Packard Electric Company following 39 faithful years of employment. Don was a high school football standout during the era of Coach Tony Mason and in later years enjoyed watching all sporting events especially football and baseball. He was an avid walker and swimmer to stay fit and healthy.
Don is survived by his companion of 22 years, Diana Thomas with whom he lived; mother, Bertha E. Carpenter of Niles; daughter, Hazie Crank of Niles; two sisters Linda Wilkes of Howland, Kathy and Donald Gadd Sr. of Niles; daughter in law Cheryl Crank of Niles; twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Don was preceded in death by his father, three sons, Infant Jeffrey Crank, Brian Crank who died August 9, 2008, Bradley Crank who died June 19, 2014, two brothers Herbert Crank Jr. and Charles E. Crank.
At Donald's request, a celebration of his life will be announced at a future time by the family.
