RICHLANDS, NC - Dorothy Mae Farmer, 83, died on Wednesday May 4, 2016 at the Brookstone Living Center in Pollocksville, North Carolina. She was born in Warren, Ohio on August 9, 1932 the daughter of John and Virginia (Daugherty) Coates and lived in the Niles, Ohio community for most of her life. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Niles. For over thirty years, she worked for the Niles Dollar Bank, Security Dollar Bank and Farmers National Bank in various positions. Dorothy retired as an executive secretary. Dorothy is survived by four sons, Daniel (Marie) Farmer II of Richlands, North Carolina, David (Karen) Farmer of Nicholasville, Kentucky, Douglas (Dana) Farmer of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Dwayne Farmer of Richlands, North Carolina. She was blessed with eleven grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Daniel James Farmer whom she married on November 24, 1950 and who died on February 8, 2015 and two brothers, John and James Coates. The funeral will be Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home where family and friends may call one hour prior to the service. Rev. Nathan Howe will officiate. Burial will be in Kerr Cemetery on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
