NILES - Edith Irene (Markle)
Jagnow, 78, died at 11:43 am on Thursday August 29, 2013
at the St. Joseph Health Center following a long illness.
She was born in Warren on March 31, 1935 The
daughter of James Delbert and Lillian Marie (Deetscreek) Markle and
lived in this community all her life. She was known by
everyone as "Irene".
A 1953 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and
while in high school, she was a fashion model for J.C.
Penney. After high school she was a telephone operator for
the Warren Telephone Company and later the United Telephone
Company. Her image was used in advertising and she was known
as "the voice with a smile." She was a bookkeeper for the
Trumbull County Engineer's Office and retired as the fiscal officer
after 44 years of service. An adventurer and world traveler,
she was also a caregiver to her mother and brother and always had
"lots of love in her heart." A homemaker, she enjoyed
language studies and cherished the time spent with her
family.
Irene is survived by her caregiver, Bobby Stout;
sister, Sherry J. (Dominic R.) Gizzi of Lowellville and several
nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents;
brother, James Markle and sister, Gloria Pallante.
The funeral will be Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at
12:30 pm at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home where family and
friends may call one hour prior to the service. Rev. Debbie
Dockstader will officiate. Burial will be in Niles City
Cemetery.
