Ellen Alice Eldridge Surak

McDONALD - Ellen Alice (Eldridge) Surak, 83, died at 11:03 pm on Saturday November 2, 2013 at the St. Elizabeth Health Center following an extended illness. She was born in Niles on August 29, 1930 the daughter of Fred E. and Laura Ellen (Purser) Engle Sr. A graduate of McDonald High School, she worked for US Steel McDonald Works, the DeBartolo Corporation and served on the McDonald Village Council. She was The Lake to River Girl Scouts Woman of the Year, a Den Mother and a member of the Girard First United Methodist Church, the Girard-McDonald Historical Society and the Church Women United of McDonald. She enjoyed photography and always had two portable cameras in her purse. Ellen is survived by three sons, Richard D. (Jeanne) Eldridge of Niles, Bradley T. Eldridge of Rome, New York, Christian M. Eldridge of McDonald; step-son, Joseph M. (Sharon) Surak of Liberty Township; three grandchildren, Laura (Ken) Dockery of Key West, Florida, Nicole (Jason) Cole of Niles, Michelle Surak of Niles; great grandson, Joseph Dockery; brother, Joseph W. Engle of Covina, California. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Richard Eldridge who died in 1972, Joseph Surak who died in 1992; daughter, Susan Eldridge who died in 1958 and a brother, Fred E. Engle. At her request, there are no calling hours or funeral services at this time. A future memorial service will be announced.
