NILES - Freida Mae DuRell, 90,
passed away at 8:58 am on Saturday April 27, 2013 at Autumn Hills
Nursing Home following a short illness.
She was born on the ship called "Frederick VIII"
(hence her name Freida) in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean on
August 30, 1922 the daughter of Joseph and Martha (Zamiatala)
Dogoda. She lived most of her life in the Niles
community.
A 1941 graduate of Niles McKinley High School,
she was a member of St.Stephen Church. She worked in the
produce departments of Miracle Mart and Valu King Grocery stores
and retired in June of 1981. She enjoyed flower and vegetable
gardening, cooking and playing cards. She will be fondly
remembered for her wonderful sense of humor and quick quip.
Freida is survived by a son, John DuRell of
Louisanna and a brother, Theodore Dogoda with whom she made her
home. She was a loving aunt to all her nieces and nephews including
her caregivers, Francie and Jeff Kolesar and Debbie and Mike
Gaia.
She was preceded in death by her parents and
three sisters, Cecylia Trafalska, Ann Hutton, Mary Farinacci and an
infant brother Joseph Dogoda.
Calling Hours will be Wednesday, May 1, 2013 from
6 to 8 pm at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. Mass of
Christian Burial will be Thursday, May 2, 2013 at 10:00 am at St.
Stephen Church preceded by a 9:45 am prayer service at the funeral
home. Rev. Thomas Kraszewski will be the celebrant.
Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
