Gudrun A Gorkie

NILES - Gudrun A. Gorkie 75, passed away at 11:05 a.m. on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at the Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital. She was born in Salzburg, Austria on May 1, 1946 the only child of Ralph E. and Rosa (Hitnberger) Hill. She was a graduate of Niles McKinley High School and retired in 2011 after working 35 years as a workshop specialist at Fairhaven Schools. She enjoyed crafting, playing Yahtzee and swimming. Most of all, she cherished family gatherings and spending time with her adoring granddaughters Ally and Ava.

Gudrun is survived by two sons, William D. Gorkie Jr. (fiance' Nicole Tackett) of Niles, Aron (Melissa) Gorkie of Girard and two granddaughters, Ally and Ava Gorkie of Girard.  She was preceded in death by her husband William D. "Bill" Gorkie whom she married in 1965 and who died on December 15, 2019.

A private family gathering was held at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home, Niles.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County.
