Harold E. Erickson Jr.

Harold E. Erickson Jr., 80, passed away at 6:20 a.m. on Wednesday May 17, 2023 at the Wooster Community Hospital. He was born in Morristown, New Jersey on March 5, 1943 the son of Harold E. and Wilhelmina (Zahn) Erickson.

Harold was a graduate of Madison (NJ) High School, Kent State University with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Administration - Banking and Investments and the University of Wisconsin Graduate School of Banking. After 36 years in his banking career, he retired on March 31, 2007 as a Vice-President of Treasury Management at Sky Bank (Mahoning National Bank) He honorably served in the United States Air Force and was a member of the Mill Creek Kiwanis, Boardman Rotary, Beaver Township Ruritan Club and Boardman Plaza Merchants Assoc. He was the past president of the Institute of Banking with the Youngstown Chapter, treasurer of the Mt. Carmel Festival and treasurer for the Canfield Fair for 20 plus years. Harold enjoyed going to Cleveland Indians games, golfing, traveling and gardening. Most of all he cherished the time spent with his grandchildren.

Harold is survived by a daughter, Stacy (Gregg) Rising of Wooster; two sons, Scott (Melissa) Erickson of Uniontown, Phillip (Crystal) Erickson of Sunbury; eight grandchildren, Nathan Erickson, Reis Rising, Ryan Erickson, Lauren Erickson, Brock Rising, Kendall Rising, Will Erickson, Grace Erickson.

He was preceded in death by his wife Bonita J. "Bonnie" Holmes Erickson whom he married on June 8, 1969 and who died on March 6, 2008 and two sisters Jean Proffitt and Lois Hyde.

Calling Hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday May 23, 2023 at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. A Service of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday May 24, 2023 at the funeral home. Rev. Thomas Dyer will officiate. Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to PGA Birdies for the Brave for military personnel or the Air Force Aid Society for Airmen and Guardians.
