NILES - Herbert Thomas Bryant Sr., 80, died at home at 1:20 am on Saturday September 26, 2015 in the comfort of family after battling cancer on and off for ten years.
He was born in Garton, West Virginia on March 31, 1935 the ninth of ten children born to Jesse and Ida (Arbogast) Bryant.
Herb grew up in Olive Hill, Kentucky and moved to Niles in 1953. He was an United States Army Veteran. He married on February 6, 1960 and raised a family with the love of his life, Patricia Ann (Wagner) Bryant. Herb worked most of his life for US Steel where he retired with 30 years of service. He later worked for Burger King and TOPS Grocery. He enjoyed gardening, landscaping, horseshoes, repairing things and helping people in need. He was a devoted member of the Apostolic Bible Church for over 30 years. Herb leaves his family and friends with fond memories of a wonderful man.
Herb is survived by his current wife, Sherry (Gray) Bryant; five children, Herbert (Kendra) Bryant Jr. of Dayton, Paul Bryant of Cortland, William (Leann) Bryant of Niles, Randall Bryant of Niles, Debbie (John) Gartner of Kinsman; six grandchildren, Chris, Tyler, Jessica and Nathan Bryant, Johnny Gartner, Kaitlyn (Bryant) Boggs; two great grandchildren, Gentry and Gannon Boggs and a loving sister, Frances (Bryant) Compton of Akron.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann (Wagner) Bryant who died on September 15, 1996; eight siblings and an infant son Gary Patrick Bryant who died on August 28, 1982.
The funeral will be Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. at the Apostolic Bible Church 1623 West Park Avenue, Niles where family and friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. prior to the service. Pastor David Murphy will officiate.
