James William Taylor

HOWLAND - James William Taylor 74, passed away Saturday morning April 6, 2019 at Continuing Healthcare of Niles following a short illness. He was born in Conneaut, Ohio on August 20, 1944 a son of James Forbes and Ruth Margaret (Hazelton) Taylor. Jim was a 1962 graduate of Mineral Ridge High School, received his Bachelors of Science Degree in Education from Bowling Green University and furthered his studies with a Masters Degree from Youngstown State University and a reading specialization certificate from The State University College at Potsdam. Following a 38 year career in education as a teacher, he retired from the LaBrae Local Schools. He was a member of the Christ the King Anglican Church in Columbiana. Jim loved to keep fit and was a lifetime member of Weight Watchers and the Silver Sneakers. He enjoyed working out in gyms and while in Hilton Head he spent time at the Powerhouse Gym. He explored his genealogy and most of all he cherished the time spent with his loving family. Jim is survived by his wife Delores "Dee" Mildred (Miller) Taylor whom he married on December 28, 1977; daughter, Jessica Taylor of Snow Hill, Maryland; son, Erik Taylor of Hilton Head, South Carolina; sister, Susan Brown of Jackson Milton; nieces, Sherry Murray of Jackson Milton, Evona Miller of Fayettville, West Virginia, Teresa Gray of Oakhill, West Virginia, Christy Taylor of Frederick, Maryland and nephew Duane Arrington of Beckley, West Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Forbes Taylor II and sister, Ruth Ann Taylor. Calling Hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, April 8, 2019 at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home, Niles. The Funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday April 9, 2019 at the funeral home.
