Joan Mary Gallagher

NILES - Joan Mary Gallagher 91, passed away peacefully at 11:10 p.m. on Wednesday January 23, 2019. She was born in Warren, Ohio on March 9, 1927 a daughter of Anthony G. and Josephine (Neville) Sullivan. She resided in Niles and on Lafayette Street most of her life. A 1945 graduate of Ursuline High School, she retired from Copperweld Steel in Warren after working as an executive secretary for over 30 years. Joan was a member of St. Stephen Church and enjoyed sewing, baking, listening to others, giving good advice and making people feel better. Joan was kindhearted and full of "Irish Wit" which she lovingly shared with her many friends. She cherished the time spent with her grandchildren, especially playing games and singing songs with her great granddaughter Layken. Joan "The Best Mom" is survived by her only daughter, Noeleen (Stephen) Miller of Niles; two grandchildren, Corey (Whitney) Miller, Maura (Michael) Dutton; two great grandchildren, Layken Miller and Grace Dutton. Calling Hours will be from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday, January 26, 2019 at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Stephen Church. Rev James Korda will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery. The family thanks the staff at The Manor at Continuing Healthcare of Niles for the good and loving care they provided to Joan during her time there.
