John Henry Campbell

April 20, 1942 — May 4, 2019

WARREN - John Henry Campbell Sr. 77, passed away at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday May 4, 2019 at the St. Joseph Health Center following a short illness. He was born in Olive Hill, Kentucky on April 20, 1942 the son of Delmar W. and Grace M. (Sparks) Campbell. He honorably served in the United States Army and was of the Pentecostal Faith. John was a foreman and supervisor at Copperweld Steel for 36 years. He was a 32nd degree Freemason and a member of the Niles Blue Lodge, the Youngstown Valley Scottish Rite and the Ali Baba Grotto. He and his wife were "snow birds" and spent the winter months in Ocala, Florida along with his golfing buddies. He enjoyed golfing, yardwork, driving his John Deere tractor and old western movies. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeye and Cleveland Browns, Indians and Cavs fan. Most of all he cherished the time spent with his family especially his grandchildren. John is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Margaret "Peggy" (Bowser) Campbell whom he married on March 16, 1963; three children, John H. Campbell Jr. of Ocala, Florida, Laura (Howard) Walters Jr. of Champion, Gary (Krista) Campbell of Champion; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a sister, Joyce Ann Campbell of Warren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Nora L. Miller, Violet Campbell and five brothers, Charles Campbell, Everett Campbell, Sherman Campbell, Dennis Campbell, Merle B. Campbell Sr. Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home, Niles. The Funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at the funeral home. His nephew the Rev. George Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Kerr Cemetery.
