NILES - John C. Young, 77, passed away at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday February 15, 2022 at the St. Elizabeth Health Center from a short illness following complications of heart surgery.

He was born in Denver, Colorado on July 26, 1944 the son of John W. and Mary (Zobitz) Young. John was a 1963 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and honorably served in the United States Air Force. John retired in 2002 after working 30 years as a skilled trades electrician at Delphi Packard Electric.

He was a member of St. Stephen Church, American Legion Post 737 Lake Milton, Star Touring Steel Valley 131 (motorcycle group), Five Point Model A Club, "POCI" Pontiac Oakland Club International (car club) and the Knights of Columbus.

John is survived by his wife of 52 years Carol (Galgozy) Young whom he married on June 14, 1969; two daughters, Jean Ann (Don) Timms of Niles, Jennifer M. (Douglas Hair) Young of Howland Township; son, John F. Young of Niles; four grandchildren, Donny Timms, Alexis Young, Madyson Pohuski, McKenna Pohuski. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Janet Mays.

Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, February 18, 2022 at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home where the St. Stephen Bereavement Ministry will have a 6:30 p.m. prayer service. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at St. Stephen Church. Rev. Richard Murphy will be the celebrant. Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion #737 Lake Milton Honor Guard.
